To position and design the building on site so that it can harness the natural environment to reduce energy consumption wherever possible.

The proposals seek to demolish and replace the existing temporary structures of the Health Centre with a partial two-storey building comprising approximately 2,240 sqm of floorspace and space to support separate mobile diagnostic units.

The layout has been developed to ensure that the patient and visitor experience is of the highest possible quality. There will be a wide range of users in the new health centre and it is critical that the building is accessible to all, easy to navigate and provides an uplifting and reassuring environment.

As a result of previous feedback received, the proposed layout of the building within the site has been amended.

This increases the separation distance between the building and the residential properties on Minorca Road, as well as ensuring the main building entrance aligns with the main pedestrian and vehicular entrance to the site, off Church Street, offering better views.

The proposals also comprise the provision of pedestrian, cycle and vehicular access and parking to meet the needs of staff and visitors. In order to promote the use of sustainable means of transport, a reduction in car parking spaces across the site is proposed, and cycle storage facilities provided.

The building is of a high quality design that sits comfortably within the existing plot as well as creating a vibrant and attractive public space within Weybridge Town Centre. Increased soft landscaping features and tree planting are proposed across the site with an overall reduction in hardstanding.

The scheme is also of a low energy design. Photovoltaic panels are provided at roof level in order to promote sustainability through the use of renewable energy sources.
