About

For more than nine decades, essential healthcare services have been offered from this site to the Weybridge Community.

In 1928, the site saw the establishment of its first hospital, replacing the Weybridge Cottage Hospital On Balfour Road, which had been constructed in 1889. Following this transition, the Balfour Road site was later re-purposed.

During the early 1960’s, the hospital underwent expansion, culminating in the opening of a new wing in 1962. As times passed, the facilities evolved to accommodate broader range of healthcare services, including general practitioner services, outpatients care and more hospital ward beds.

By the 1990s, the original hospital couldn’t meet the growing demand for healthcare services and required expensive repairs due to its ageing infrastructure. In 1998, a new community hospital and primary care centre were constructed, prioritising the development of three ground floor wards (subsequently closed) and accommodating two GP practices on the first floor. This phased construction approach ensure the old facility could remain operational, ensuring uninterrupted patient care.

In July 2017, a devastating fire engulfed the community hospital, resulting in the temporary relocation of two GP surgeries to Walton Hospital. Walk-In Services were redirected to St. Peter’s, Woking, and Ashford Hospitals during this period.

Subsequently, once the site was cleared, temporary structures were introduced as an interim solution to address the loss of essential facilities. These temporary accommodations consist of 20 interconnected prefabricated buildings and include various treatment rooms in addition to housing the GP practices.

In May 2023 the Partners of Rowan Tree Practice and Church Street Practice came together and decided the time was right to merge the two practices.

A year later in May 2024 Phoenix Family Practice emerged from the two practices. This merge has secured the future of the Practice providing us with the resilience needed to navigate the ever changing NHS.
